Oswald Wirth (1860–1943) was a Swiss-born occultist, writer, and artist. A student of the esotericist Stanislas de Guaita, Wirth combined Hermetic, astrological, and alchemical symbolism to reinterpret the tarot as a tool for spiritual initiation rather than fortune-telling. His writings and deck bridged 19th-century occult revivalism and modern tarot practice, emphasizing the tarot as a mirror of the soul and a key to universal wisdom.
